I have been trying my hand at Forex trading for over a month now and as those persons above me said it is not easy. I have made more profit deals than loss deals but my losses have been larger amounts then my profits. As such, at the moment my account balance is less than what I started out with. As was said, demo accounts are good for practicing but it is not the same (mentally) as trading with a real account. Forex trading has been an interesting learning curve for me and I am still learning. I have been making less bad judgments. It is not my intension to promote any platform, but easy-forex.com has a free downloadable book that give a good layout of what Forex trading is about. It gives a good explanation of how Forex trading works and you don’t have to sign up or register with them to download and use the e-book.

If you are thinking of going into Forex trading and are looking for a platform, some things to ask about before hand are; Roll-over charges, which is a charge that is deducted if your trade deal stays open for more than 1 day. Though the charge percent may appear small, this maybe a percentage of your leverage and not your margin as such the amount adds up over time and can be costly. Also, look around for a platform that charges the lowest spread commission. I have seen spread commissions on different platforms from 2-3 spreads to 7-10 spreads. Watch out for the deposit charges, take profit charges, stop limit charges, maintenance charges, etc. Some platforms may have a low spread commission but additional charges, while others may have the reverse. The point is, look at what is available first, see what is being offered.

I've been reading a book recommended by one of my online acquaintance 'Reminiscenes of a Stock Operator' and understand the concept of losing it all before you understand and learn. But we can always mimic demo trading as to how you're gonna put your funds into use when it comes to real trading, that's how I feel.

I have been demo-ing and doing real trading as well on 0.1 lots on North Finance for education purpose and still will continue to do so.

Still, thank you for dropping by Paul!

Hi All,

Been trading 4x for about 4 years part-time.

There is an awful lot of hype surround the forex market. Most of it is made up to sell books and trading courses.

There is a big learning curve if you want to learn to trade and most traders blow out and account or two before they get develop the discipline and the patience to be a good trader.

Because trading is mostly mental, most people mess up a few dozen times before they get it right. Sure you can trade a demo account and everyone should start there. But, demo trading is not real trading and there is whole set of psychological issues you will have to deal with when you have real money on the table.

Unfortunately it doesn't matter how long you trade a demo account. The real experience doesn't start until you have real money on the table.

Thanks for the tutorials Jude

Paul

My name is Jose Leon from Spain. I started to be interested in the Forex Market when the trader of our pool began to teach us some things about this market in the private forum.

Then I began to learn a lot about Forex reading websites, strategies and so on. I opened a demo account in marketiva and NorthFinance and very soon I discovered how difficult can be to trade with success.

So, I lost some money when I thought that I was ready to trade lol... I think that all people that begins to trade think that after some months they can be good traders, and that´s not true in most of cases. So, I learnt this lesson early.

I am learning yet, and I really think that few people can gain some good and consistent profit in this market, and of course you need a good aknowledge, discipline and "money management". And like Christian says: it´s different when you trade with real money and this is a serious business, not a game.
